Beginning this fall, Harrison College in Fort Wayne will offer a registered nursing program, through which students can obtain an associate degree in as little as two years.

In a statement, the college said upon completing the program students will be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurses. Full-time students can finish the program in two years.

The college said it started the program based on feedback from area businesses.

"Starting the registered nursing program truly shows the commitment that Harrison College has towards it students, local communities and to our excellence in the classroom," Janet Herman, regional campus president, said in the statement.

"The city of Fort Wayne has identified a job growth in this area and Harrison College is proud to offer the proper education to prepare its students for a career in nursing."

Harrison College, whose Fort Wayne campus is at 6413 N. Clinton St., offers associate and bachelor's degrees in business, criminal justice, health sciences, information technology, veterinary technology and the culinary arts.
