LAGRANGE - A furniture finishing company in LaGrange will be expanding its operations and creating new jobs when it makes improvements to its building this fall.

After hearing this news, the LaGrange County Council approved a motion to hold a hearing for granting a 10-year tax abatement on $192,400 worth of repairs and remodeling to M & E Investments, in the LaGrange Industrial Park.

Keith Gillenwater, of the LaGrange County Economic Development Committee, presented the tax abatement request for M & E Investments to the LaGrange Town Council Tuesday at the LaGrange Town Hall.

The company says it will employ an additional 10 people with an annual combined salary of $288,000 as a result of the repair and remodeling work, which is expected to begin in September. The public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 2 at the LaGrange Town Hall.

"That is a great deal for the town," said Bill Eberhard, the town attorney present at the meeting. "It is one where you can't say no."
